Inks

Ink is a liquid or paste that contains pigments or dyes and is used to color a surface to produce an image, text, or design. Ink is used for drawing or writing with a pen, brush, or quill. Thicker inks, in paste form, are used extensively in letterpress and lithographic printing. Inking can be a complex medium, composed of solvents, pigments, dyes, resins, lubricants, solubilizers, surfactants, particulate matter, fluorescents, and other materials. The components of inks serve many purposes; the ink’s carrier, colorants, and other additives affect the flow and thickness of the ink and its appearance when dry.

FW Artist Acrylic Ink
FW Artists’ Ink is an acrylic-based, pigmented, water-resistant ink (on most surfaces) in a range of 38 colours, all of which have either a 3 or 4 star rating for permanence. Such a high degree of lightfastness over such a range of fully intermixable colours makes them ideal for use by artists in the production of pictures for permanent display. Colors can be substantially diluted or mixed to achieve the most subtle of tones, very similar in character to watercolor. Such washes will dry to a water-resistant film on virtually all surfaces and successive layers of color can be laid over. FW Artists’ Inks work well through airbrushes and technical pens.
FW Pearlescents
FW Pearlescent Inks are a unique range of 22 water-based acrylic colors producing a shimmering pearl effect. These acrylic-based inks are water-soluble when wet, but dry to a water-resistant film on most surfaces. All colors are very to extremely lightfast. This breakthrough in color technology offers almost limitless creative potential in areas not normally associated with inks and includes applications to wood and leather (and to a limited degree, glass and ceramics) as well as to paper and board. All colors are intermixable. They are permanent and translucent, but work best if put down freely rather than applying successive layers of colors. The shimmering pearl effect created by these colors is startling, and there are many interesting and exciting ways of using FW Pearlescent Inks.
Calligraphy Ink
Calli is an acrylic-based range of pigmented, water-resistant inks, designed specially for use in calligraphy, where optimum flow characteristics from the pen or brush are essential. Calli Ink is available in 6 different colors.

They can be used with a brush, pen, or airbrush, and when diluted make perfect washes. Pro White offers superb covering power over colors that would normally bleed through white ink. Mixing Pro White and Pro Black produces opaque, cool greys.
